In a Barbie World  

LMC proudly created the marketing campaign for Barbie®: The Exhibition at the Design Museum, which celebrates 65 years of the iconic toy. We adopted a minimalist approach to the poster, blending the sophistication of the Design Museum with the playfulness of Barbie. Using the lighter pink from the Barbie colour palette within the image, we framed it with a white border and black typography, echoing the colours of the first Barbie doll’s dress. A modern day Barbie stands alongside her, emphasising the narrative of evolution.

Just High Street Ken 

The closest tube station to the Design Museum is High Street Kensington, so we couldn’t resist the opportunity to modify the TFL sign by incorporating the Ken logo and Barbie colours. We also designed the archway at the exit of the station, ensuring maximum visibility for the exhibition.

Think Pink! 

LMC was responsible for producing all 2D graphics within the exhibition. Collaborating closely with the Design Museum curators, Mattel and the exhibition architects, we diligently created section and sub-section panels, object labels, logo reproductions, iconography, stencils, infographics, reprographics, and the Barbie timeline.

 
 
 
 

All of the labels and panels adhere to the museum’s sustainability principles by being printed on a 100% recycled honeycomb substrate. Also, since Barbie appeals to all demographics, we made sure that visitors of all ages can enjoy the exhibition with clear and legible graphics.

 
 
 
 

Dream Shop 

Throughout the duration of the exhibition, the Design Museum shop is selling a wide range of Barbie products. Therefore, transforming the space into a Barbie Dreamhouse was a natural choice. This bold and eye-catching design also serves as an excellent street level advertisement for the exhibition. We also created all graphics within the shop, and yes, they are pink!
